Immuron says its travellers' diarrhoea tablet, Travelan, has overtaken Imodium in total Australian pharmacy sales over the past 13 weeks. A brand relaunch helped lift the Melbourne company's local sales by 14 per cent in the September quarter.
The company reported unaudited global sales of $2.2 million for the first quarter of the 2027 financial year. That was up 9 per cent on the same period last year and 5 per cent on the June quarter.
Australia made up most of that. Local sales reached $1.8 million, up 14 per cent year on year and 12 per cent on the previous quarter.
The company credited the relaunch, which included new packaging and brand communications. It said the relaunch "has resonated strongly with consumers and has been well received and supported by all the major pharmacy banner groups."
Citing IQVIA scan data for the 13 weeks to 26 September 2026, Immuron called Travelan "one of the fastest-growing anti-diarrhoeals and digestive health brands in Pharmacy." It said the brand was growing at 26.4 per cent, against 5.3 per cent for the category as a whole.
Travelan is made from the colostrum of pregnant cows vaccinated against 13 strains of enterotoxigenic E. coli. The antibodies in the colostrum bind to bacteria that cause diarrhoea. In Australia, it is a listed medicine on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods. In the US, it is sold as a dietary supplement.
The company is also selling more of its second pharmacy product, ProIBS. Immuron distributes this irritable bowel syndrome treatment in Australia and New Zealand under an exclusive deal with its developer, Calmino Group AB. Sigma, the country's largest wholesaler, now stocks ProIBS, and it is available in Amcal and DDS pharmacies.
The United States went the other way. Sales there fell 19 per cent on the same period last year, to $0.3 million, and 24 per cent in the June quarter.
Immuron blamed heavy buying during Amazon Prime Day in June, and "customs and logistics challenges delaying replenishment of US inventory." It said stock has now been replenished. It expects a better result next quarter, helped by Amazon's October Prime Day and the Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales in November.
Canada grew fastest, though from a small base. Sales nearly quadrupled to $0.1 million, up 286 per cent, and rose 63 per cent from the previous quarter. The company linked this to greater brand awareness and product sampling at Shoppers Drug Mart conferences in Toronto and Calgary. Shoppers Drug Mart is Canada's largest drugstore chain. Immuron said July 2026 was "Travelan's highest non-pipeline sales month in Canada."
