AusMedtech 2015 will next week attract more than 300 medical technology developers and professionals to Melbourne - to advance one of Australia’s fastest growing and evolving sectors.
The eighth annual AusMedtech national conference, to advance Australia’s medtech sector (devices and diagnostics), will be officially opened by the Victorian Minister for Small Business, Innovation and Trade, the Hon. Adem Somyurek MLC and feature the inaugural Digital Health Public Forum.
Australia has seen its medtech sector advancing vigorously for some years using research developments to facilitate innovations in the biomedical sphere and now has an established community of companies, estimated to be more than 1,000 - mostly start-up - companies that make up Australia’s medtech industry.
Over the two-day AusMedtech conference program, many of the industry’s leading international and local speakers will discuss best practices, new developments and learnings to help local developers to succeed globally. An exciting addition to the 2015 program is the inaugural Digital Health Public Forum, which brings together the medtech industry with innovators, investors and others interested in the developing area of digital health solutions and technologies.
The public Forum will include a keynote presentation ‘Digital health and the transformation of healthcare’ by Dr James Dromey, Head of Commercialisation, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, and feature spotlight presentations from innovators across the digital health spectrum, as well as an interactive panel discussion.
Digital health is a rapidly emerging sector with huge potential. It is undergoing rapid growth globally with year on year increases in venture capital investment outstripping that in life sciences and medical devices[1]. The mobile health market alone is predicted to be $58.8 billion by 2020[2].
AusMedtech is Australia’s premier medical technology conference for medtech developers, providing business partnering opportunities for decision-makers and an investment summit. It brings together key stakeholders of the Australian and international medical devices and diagnostics sector, to discuss the major issues in global medtech success.
This event has been organised in partnership with the Victorian Government, with valuable support from session and event partners and exhibitors. AusMedtech 2015 will be held in Melbourne 29 – 30 April at the Pullman Hotel.
Details of the event, including the full program are available at the AusMedtech website.
