TGA seeks advisory committee members

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has opened a call seeking expressions of interest from professionals in relevant scientific and medical fields to fill statutory advisory committee vacancies.

The statutory advisory committees provide independent expert advice on specific technical matters relating to the regulation of medicines, devices, cell and tissue products and other substances, which supports TGA functions as a best practice regulator.

Committee members on the seven advisory committees provide advice on the therapeutic product lifecycle, from premarket approval and access to post-market product safety.

Remuneration for committee members is in accordance to the latest determination of the Remuneration Tribunal. Members of TGA statutory advisory committees are bound by committee-in-confidence obligations, as well as obligations to declare all potential conflicts of interest.

Further details can be found on the Department of Health website and enquiries can be made by email to committee.vacancies@health.gov.au. The closing date for applications is 5.00pm (AEST) Tuesday 31 July 2018.

See https://www.tga.gov.au/tga-statutory-advisory-committees for details of the committees.

As part of the response to the Expert Review of Medicines and Medical Devices Regulation (the MMDR), the Government agreed to a more streamlined structure for TGA's advisory committees, reducing the number of committees from 11 to seven.
