MTPConnect has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to strengthen bilateral cooperation and support the growth of life sciences companies in both countries.

The agreement was formalised at the Global Health Exhibition 2025 in Riyadh.

The MoU was signed by MTPConnect Chief Executive Officer Stuart Dignam and Saudi Ministry of Health Deputy Minister Khalid Alburikan at the Deals Hub of the conference, where MTPConnect is hosting a delegation of 14 Australian life sciences organisations.

Dignam said Saudi Arabia’s healthcare sector is undergoing a significant transformation, creating new opportunities for international collaboration. “We are delighted to formalise this relationship with the Saudi Ministry of Health as our organisations share mutual industry interests to support and invest in innovation, fuel medical product discovery and advance human health,” he said.

“Under the Vision 2030 initiative, life science innovation is a key element of the Kingdom’s diversification roadmap. Saudi Arabia is investing heavily in building a patient-centred, tech-enabled health system — creating new opportunities for collaboration and partnerships.”

Dignam said MTPConnect’s meetings in Riyadh this week, including with the Public Investment Fund, had underlined Australia’s expertise in partnering with countries investing in health innovation. “This agreement will help open up new market, commercial and collaboration opportunities for Australian life science companies,” he said.

Under the MoU, the two organisations will work together on collaborative programs and events, provide industry connections, share information and support future trade delegations between Australia and Saudi Arabia.

The Australian delegation includes HA TECH, Lixa, Cambium Bio, Botaniqal Clinics Australia, JustPartnering, Adelaide University, CMAX Clinical Research, UNSW RNA Institute, Recce Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Micro-X, National Acoustic Laboratories, MTPConnect SA and WEHI Ventures.

The Global Health Exhibition 2025 is one of the largest healthcare conventions in the region, bringing together more than 160,000 healthcare professionals, 1,500 exhibitors and leading global investors.
