Labor leader Bill Shorten has reappointed Senator Kim Carr to the innovation portfolio.

Senator Kim Carr fought off attempts to dump him from the shadow ministry to be reappointed Shadow Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research.

South Australian MP Nick Champion and Perth-based Tim Hammond were appointed Assistant Ministers for Manufacturing and Science and Innovation respectively.

Catherine King was reappointed to the health portfolio. South Australian MP Tony Zappia was appointed Shadow Assistant Health Minister, succeeding Stephen Jones.

Jason Clare was appointed Shadow Minister for Trade and Investment, succeeding Penny Wong.
