Australian life science companies are being encouraged to apply for the Start-up Stadium, an international pitching initiative that will put them on the global stage and in-front of investors at the 2020 BIO International Convention (BIO).
Start-up Stadium has been designed to provide up to 50 start-up companies with the opportunity to engage key members of the investment community, venture philanthropy groups, strategic partners, non-dilutive capital, and BIO delegates at the world’s largest biotechnology event. Of the 50 pitching spaces available, at least 10 are reserved for international companies.
Companies will deliver six-minute presentations, and an investor panel will provide live feedback. If selected for Start-up Stadium, participants will also benefit from discounted registration fees and complimentary access to BIO One-on-One Partnering™.
Companies applying need to have raised less than $10 million since inception, have previous business pitch or competition experience, fewer than 20 full-time employees, and cannot have previously participated in BIO’s Start-up Stadium.
The annual BIO International Convention, hosted by the Biotechnology Innovation Organisation, is the most significant and influential global event for the biotechnology industry.
AusBiotech will once again be proudly leading Australia’s delegation to San Diego for BIO2020. AusBiotech has led the Australian delegation to BIO for more than ten years. In 2019, more than 350 delegates joined Team Australia to be one of the top ten delegations in attendance.
The Australian presence will be prominent at AusBiotech’s Australian Pavilion. The Pavilion showcases companies, promotes the strength of the Australian life sciences, and fosters the global connections with its overseas counterparts. All major states will be represented.
Australia is a global leader within the life sciences sector. Facilitating international opportunities for investment discussions, collaborations and partnerships is a vital and valued element of AusBiotech’s work, and the annual mission to BIO is closely aligned with its strategic plan.
