Food manufacturing executive appointed to lead TechInSA

Experienced manufacturing and international distribution executive Joe Thorp has been appointed as the new Chief Executive for TechInSA, a State Government agency that works with the hi-tech sector to bring innovative products and technologies to the global market.

The appointment, which followed an extensive recruitment process, will commence in April 2017 for a term of five years.

Mr Thorp was most recently the Managing Director of Hoshizaki Lancer – a world leader in beverage dispensing technology and food and service equipment.

He also represented Lancer Corp USA as Vice President Asia Pacific and was a member of the Lancer Global Strategy and Global Product Development Committees with responsibility for a product development centre in Mumbai.

TechInSA is the State Government’s agency committed to promoting and accelerating the commercialisation of research and new technologies in South Australia.

The agency supports innovative start-ups and small to medium enterprises by providing access to grants, including the $10 million South Australian Early Commercialisation Fund, business and marketing assistance, lab and office space and global networks.

Working in partnership with the TechInSA board, the incoming Chief Executive will be responsible for the implementation of the strategic plan and operational management of the organisation.
