Competition for technology SMEs opens for 2017

AusBiotech

Australian technology accelerator program, Australian Technologies Competition, is now open for 2017 to Australian technology SMEs with global potential.

The Competition provides valuable profile and mentoring opportunities for successful applicants and has provided more than $250 million dollars in investment for Australian SMEs since it was established seven years ago.

The top 30 applicants will receive entry to an intensive Business Accelerator Program, providing SMEs with access to mentors and assisting them in building connections with investors, international markets, grant programs and other key advisors. Selected companies may also feature in showcase events in Melbourne, which will support company growth funding.

Amongst the winners in 2016 was AusBiotech member Vectus Biosystems, who received the Medtech & Pharma Award, when the category was introduced for the first time. Vectus Biosystems is a research-based drug discovery company that develops and licenses medicines. The company has developed a library of more than 1,000 small molecules with varying degrees of anti-hypertensive and anti-fibrotic properties.

Australian SMEs with less than 100 employees are invited to apply in one of eight categories, which include:

  • Medtech and pharma;
  • Food and agribusiness; and
  • Advanced manufacturing.

Applications close Tuesday 23 May 2017 and National Semi Finalists will be announced in June. Visit the Australian Technologies Competition website to apply now or find out more.
