Australia's 'Biggest Week in Biotech 2027' to take place in August

AusBiotech has announced that Australia's Biggest Week in Biotech 2027 will be held in Brisbane from 23–27 August, marking a shift from its traditional October timing.

There is no change to the timing of this year’s Biggest Week in Biotech, which is taking place on the Gold Coast from 19–23 October 2026. Registrations are now open, including an EOFY special offer of 10 per cent off Early-Bird tickets.

The 2027 timing adjustment has been made in response to the Rugby World Cup, with matches scheduled in Brisbane during the event's usual October week.

By moving the 2027 event to August, AusBiotech said it is ensuring Australia's flagship life sciences gathering remains accessible, affordable, and attractive to delegates from across Australia and around the world.

CEO Rebekah Cassidy said the decision reflected AusBiotech's commitment to delivering the best possible experience for the life sciences community in Australia.

"Australia's Biggest Week in Biotech is the premier gathering for the life sciences sector, bringing together researchers, innovators, investors, industry leaders, and policymakers from across Australia and internationally.

"With Brisbane hosting 2027 Rugby World Cup matches during our traditional event period, we made the decision early to provide certainty for our community and ensure delegates can access affordable travel and accommodation options.

"Importantly, while the 2027 timing is changing, the event itself is not. The program, the community, and the opportunities that make Australia's Biggest Week in Biotech such a valuable experience will remain unchanged.

"Australia's Biggest Week in Biotech will continue to bring together the AusBiotech International Conference, AusMedtech, and AusBiotech Invest in one location, over one week."

The August timing also positions the event within a favourable gap in the international life sciences conference calendar, supporting participation from international delegates, speakers, investors, and partnering organisations.
