AusBiotech to support Australia's most prestigious free public science event

AusBiotech

AusBiotech will work on the 2017 Graeme Clark Oration with the Convergence Science Network and the University of Melbourne to present Australia’s most prestigious free public science event on Monday 30 October at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The Graeme Clark Oration celebrates advances in health and medical research that impacts people around the world. It showcases world leaders in health and medical research and initiates a community-wide discussion around exciting developments in convergence science - where the life, physical and engineering sciences come together.

In 2017, we will have the great privilege to hear Dr Harold Varmus, a world cancer authority, discuss our new understanding of cancer and its treatment. Dr Varmus shared the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 1989 for his research on retroviruses and the genetic basis of cancer. He has had a distinguished career in the administration of health funding in the US as the director of both the National Institutes of Health and the National Cancer Institute.

AusBiotech is providing event logistics and support and invites further supporters for the 2017 Oration, which will enable an audience of more than 2,000 people across the community to come together for a public celebration of the value biomedical research brings to society.
