AusBiotech 2021 programme released

News

The AusBiotech 2021 programme has been released, and features global thought-leaders, and pressing and emerging topics to drive the Australian biotech sector forward. Opening the largest annual biotech gathering for the Australian life science industry, Millis Oration keynote Professor Sharon Lewin AO, Director, The Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, will address HIV to COVID-19: what history has taught us about our response to pandemics.

Professor Lewin has spent her career researching infectious diseases and the body’s reaction and notes that there are some parallels of the body’s response to fighting HIV and COVID-19 that have informed Australia’s response to this pandemic. The Millis Oration, proudly supported by CSL, will discuss how the history of the HIV pandemic has emerged with new investment and collaboration to combat and treat COVID-19.

Keynote Howard Sachs, Siemens Pharmaceutical Vertical Manager, Siemens, will also present live in-person and online, presenting on Pharma 4.0: fast tracking discovery through to commercialisation. With an industry and government deeply focused on innovation and supply chain sovereignty, the calls for faster, leaner and quality processes across all areas of business to shorten the time-to-market, has never been more of a hot topic for our nation. Howard will present on Pharma 4.0 concepts, provide insights, including on onshoring mRNA and digital twinning, and will touch on what’s occurring both here and overseas in accelerating discoveries through to commercialisation

The four-day programme is packed with pressing, emerging, and engaging topics, designed to drive the Australian biotech sector forward. Topics include clinical trials, manufacturing, regenerative medicines, IP, early-stage commercialisation, digital health, therapeutics and personalised medicines. More keynotes and speakers will be revealed over the upcoming weeks.

Join us to celebrate and connect with our thriving Australian and global biotechnology network throughout the biggest week in biotech; engage and exchange ideas, pitch, partner and learn.

AusBiotech 2021 is run by industry, for industry; and for more than three decades it has created a forum to reflect on the sector’s achievements and exchange ideas to further advance the industry. The premier event brings together industry leaders, investors, researchers, clinicians and regulatory representatives from across the globe. All benefits from the conference flow back into the sector to continue facilitating the industry’s growth and global development, as AusBiotech is a not-for-profit entity.

Biotech’s biggest week also sees the return of Australia Biotech Invest & Partnering 2021, Australia’s preeminent life science investment event, which will run concurrently on 26 October 2021. Australia’s biotechnology industry presents a compelling opportunity for investors and international partners, and this independent event is designed to engage capital with innovation, and offers the opportunity for companies to present their technology and story to a network of potential international partners and investors, including global pharma representatives. Companies interested in presenting are invited to express their interest; qualified and pre-approved investors are invited to register their free-of-charge attendance at the online and/or in-person event now.

AusBiotech’s premier events, AusBiotech 2021 and Australia Biotech Invest & Partnering 2021 are proudly sponsored by the Victorian Government.
