AusBiotech and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI) have signed a memorandum of understanding establishing a framework for collaboration and cooperation to support each country's growing biotechnology industries.
AusBiotech said the MoU marks a decade of collaboration between the two organisations.
Signed on the opening day of AusBiotech’s 2024 Conference, the MOU recognises biotechnology's key role in national economic and social development and the significant benefits of partnering internationally to support and accelerate industry advancement.
It has been signed by KHIDI Present Dr Soon-do Cha, and AusBiotech CEO Rebekah Cassidy.
Ms Cassidy said, “I am immensely proud to be continuing this decade-long partnership with KHIDI. Innovation is not constrained by borders and, indeed, is enhanced by international collaboration. By working with KHIDI, we can provide opportunities and support to our members.
“The world is changing, and the need for organisations representing some of the world’s most impactful innovations to be agile to change is paramount. Today’s signing highlights how both of our organisations are embracing more strategic roles that extend beyond national borders, actively contributing to the global life sciences sector.
“In the face of this change, from global pressures – pandemics, supply chain challenges, aging populations, climate change, and more - Australia’s ability to strategically leverage its health and medical research strengths to grow and sustain a thriving life sciences sector is important.
“I also thank KHIDI for being present during AusBiotech 2024, we are grateful and value your attendance.”
