Senior Victorian Government representatives will headline flagship events at this year’s AusBiotech International Conference 2025 and AusBiotech Invest Conference 2025 in Melbourne, highlighting the state’s growing leadership in biotechnology and life sciences.
Danny Pearson, Victorian Minister for Economic Growth and Jobs and Minister for Finance, will open both AusBiotech Invest and the International Conference, which are expected to attract more than 1,800 delegates from across Australia and around the world. He will be joined by Ros Spence, Victorian Minister for Agriculture, Community Sport, Carers and Volunteers, and Michaela Settle, Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Victoria, who will also address key sessions across the four-day program.
The Victorian Government is this year’s Host State Partner for the event, which runs from 21 to 24 October at Crown Towers and the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Opening AusBiotech Invest on 21 October, Minister Pearson will welcome more than 250 delegates, including global investors and leading Australian life science companies. He will also officially launch the International Conference, which will convene over 1,600 participants.
“Victoria’s world-class biotech sector continues to foster innovation, create high-skilled jobs and improve lives,” Minister Pearson said. “We’re proud to once again host AusBioInvest and the AusBiotech Conference, showcasing how Victoria is fuelling economic growth and advancing the future of biotechnology.”
Minister Spence will open the second day of the conference on 23 October, underlining the sector’s significance to Victoria’s $20 billion agricultural economy.
“We’re excited to showcase how Victoria leads the way in agriculture innovation at Australia’s largest biotechnology conference,” she said. “This is part of the Government’s investment in transformative science and technology developments to grow our agricultural sector.”
Parliamentary Secretary Settle will officially open the AgriBiotech and BioSecurity Summit, a dedicated forum focused on the role of biotechnology in building stronger, more resilient crops, improving food production, and driving animal breeding innovation.
“This conference brings together our local knowledge and global expertise, opening the door to new ideas, fresh partnerships, and smarter ways to support our farmers and grow the entire sector,” Ms Settle said.
AusBiotech CEO Rebekah Cassidy said the Victorian Government’s partnership underscores the strategic importance of the life sciences sector to the state’s economy.
“As one of the Asia–Pacific’s pre-eminent biotechnology events, AusBiotech’s four-day conference brings together Australia’s leading life science companies and a global audience of delegates and investors,” she said. “We’re delighted to have the Victorian Government’s support in showcasing the breadth of innovation across health, agriculture, and the wider economy.”
