Victoria opens call for 2018 Premier's Awards for Health and Medical Research

The Premier of Victoria and the Australian Society for Medical Research (ASMR) have called for nominations for the 24th Premier's Awards, which have five categories across health and medal research.

The Premier's Award has been awarded annually for more than a decade to recognise the exceptional contributions made by early career health and medical researchers in their PhD studies. 

In 2018 the Premier's Awards will be expanded to include the following category awards:

  • Basic Science Researcher;
  • Clinical Researcher;
  • Aboriginal Researcher undertaking research in any field of health and medical research;
  • Health Services Researcher; and,
  • Public Health Researcher.

One overall Premier's Award for Health and Medical Research Excellence recipient will be chosen from the recipients of the five category awards.

The category award recipients receive $5,000 each and the Premier's Award for Health and Medical Research Excellence recipient receives $15,000 ($20,000 in total).

All awards will be announced at a ceremony proposed for the end of March 2018.
