The George Institute for Global Health, a leading medical research organisation, has appointed Dr Paul Schreier as its new board chair.
Dr Schreier's appointment follows a global search conducted by Egon Zehnder.
Dr Schreier has significant experience working with organisations that play a critical role in global health. He was notably the Interim CEO of Wellcome Trust (2023-2024) and its chief operating officer from 2019. He led initiatives on COVID-19 treatments and was the global therapeutics co-lead for the World Health Organization's Accelerating COVID-19 Tools partnership.
vHis diverse background encompasses significant commercial, public, university, and non-profit contributions. He has served as deputy secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet of Australia, deputy vice-chancellor and chief operating officer at Macquarie University (Sydney), McKinsey partner, and CEO of Hakluyt. Dr Schreier is currently the CEO of SimplyHealth.
