Former AusBiotech CEO and current Medicines Australia chair Dr Anna Lavelle has been recognised with the Johnson and Johnson 2018 Industry Excellence Award for Industry Leadership.
Dr Lavelle received the award in a presentation at AusBiotech in Brisbane yesterday.
Kathy Connell of Johnson & Johnson Innovation described Dr Lavelle as “dedicated and fearless”.
Dr Lavelle retired as CEO of AusBiotech in 2016 having led the organisation for over 11 years. She was subsequently appointed to the Board of Medicines Australia and was recently made its chair.
Dr Lavelle holds a number of other directorships and is currently chair of the Australian National Digital health incubator, ANDHealth.
Medicines Australia congratulated their chair who they said "has shown her commitment to the biotechnology sector through her leadership of AusBiotech for well over a decade."
"Anna has played an integral role in ensuring there's a vibrant biotechnology sector in Australia," said CEO Liz de Somer.
"Her strength, energy, enthusiasm and extensive knowledge make her the ideal recipient of this important industry award."
