Proteomics International Laboratories has announced a national distribution agreement with Healius that will make the Promarker portfolio available across Australia through the Healius pathology network.
The Promarker portfolio includes PromarkerD for diabetic kidney disease, a predictive test that aims to identify people with type 2 diabetes at increased risk of chronic kidney disease before conventional indicators appear. PromarkerEso is offered for oesophageal cancer risk assessment in patients with chronic gastro-oesophageal reflux disease and Barrett's oesophagus. PromarkerEndo is a diagnostic blood test designed to assist clinicians in earlier identification of endometriosis.
The exclusive partnership has an initial term of three years with an option to extend for a further three years by mutual agreement.
Under the arrangement, Proteomics will continue to conduct all testing in its accredited laboratories and provide clinical reporting while Healius will manage specimen collection and distribution through its national infrastructure.
The agreement gives Proteomics access to more than 2,000 patient collection centres and established relationships with general practitioners, specialists, hospitals and other healthcare providers.
Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director David Morris said, "This agreement provides a national distribution pathway for the Promarker portfolio and represents an important step in our commercialisation strategy. By partnering with Healius, we can leverage an established pathology network while maintaining responsibility for laboratory testing, reporting and clinical support."
He added, "By combining Proteomics International's accredited laboratory capability with Healius' pathology distribution infrastructure, we have established a scalable pathway to support the phased rollout of the Promarker portfolio across Australia." He closed his comments with "We look forward to working closely with Healius to support clinician awareness and adoption activities for the Promarker portfolio."
Anthea Muir, Group Executive Customer and Commercial at Healius, said, "We are pleased to partner with Proteomics International to provide clinicians and patients with access to the Promarker portfolio through Healius' pathology network."
She added, "The Promarker portfolio complements Healius' pathology offering by expanding the range of predictive and diagnostic testing available to Australian clinicians."
Proteomics International will retain responsibility for laboratory testing, clinical reporting, scientific and medical support, and quality and regulatory compliance. Healius will focus on pathology distribution, referrer engagement and market access activities.
