Policy

Fiona Nash has retained responsibility for the TGA in the allocation of health portfolio responsibilities.

Health Minister Sussan Ley announced the new division of responsibilities in Canberra yesterday after she was sworn in as Minister for Aged Care, adding to her existing portfolios of Health and Sport.

Ms Ley said she "proactively" sought to "bring responsibility for aged care back to health and give it a seat at the Cabinet table."

Ken Wyatt was also sworn in yesterday as Assistant Minister for Health with responsibility to Assisting the Minister for Aged Care.

Senator Nash will hold the portfolio of Rural Health Minister, which will include ongoing responsibility for rural and indigenous health, drug and alcohol policy and organ donation.

A spokesperson for Ms Ley confirmed Senator Nash will maintain responsibility for the TGA, which includes overseeing the Government's response to the review of medicines and medical devices regulation. Ms Ley will retain responsibility for the PBS.
