Nanosonics appoints new non-executive director

Nanosonics (ASX: NAN) has announced the appointment of Mr Steven Sargent as a non-executive director to its board.

Mr Sargent brings a range of experience and knowledge to Nanosonics. He has overseen large scale businesses for GE, including in healthcare.

Sydney-based Nanosonics is a leader in the development of innovative technology for infection control.

Mr Sargent also has extensive executive experience across a range of industries spanning the US, Europe and Asia Pacific. He joined GE Capital in the US in 1993 and since that time held a number of leadership positions with the company, including President and CEO, GE Australia, New Zealand, PNG and the Pacific.

He was appointed Vice President and Officer of General Electric Company in 2008 and was a member of GE’s Global Corporate Executive Council, the first Australian ever to be appointed to such a position in the company's history.

Prior to his retirement from GE, Mr Sargent was President and CEO of GE Mining. He is currently a non-executive director of Origin Energy, the Great Barrier Reef Foundation and Chairman of The Origin Foundation. He has previously served as a non-executive director of Veda Group, Bond University and was on the board of the Business Council of Australia.

He was also a member of the Australian Treasurer’s Financial Sector Advisory Council and President of the American Chamber of Commerce.
