IVD Australia, the peak industry body representing suppliers of pathology solutions, has changed its name to Pathology Technology Australia.
According to the association's Chair, Mr Sebastian D’Angelo, the new name reflects its evolution.
“It is time to direct our focus towards the broader regulatory environment and leverage the constant innovative technology our Members provide in pathology," said Mr D’Angelo.
"Established in 2009, our purpose was to manage the transition to the new regulatory system and as such, ‘IVD Australia’ was both descriptive and accurate. But the environment has changed significantly, as has our role.
"There is limited recognition for the level of innovation within the IVD industry and IVD Australia's message is often obscured by the reaction to the name and the lack of understanding of what is an ‘IVD’.
"Our industry is about so much more than just supply of technology and we need to be readily associated with the innovative providers of solutions that we are,” added Mr D’Angelo.
“This rename and rebrand represents a significant step in the organisation’s evolution. We are redefining who we are, driving change and shaping the future of the industry,” said CEO Dr Wendy-Jane Morrow.
“Our brand ethos has always been built on trust, credibility and industry knowledge – that’s what’s kept our organisation running successfully for the past 10 years."
