Emyria is on the verge of opening its first clinic in Sydney, marking the company's entry into New South Wales and extending its national network of intensive mental health services into Australia's most populous state.
The ASX-listed company told investors the clinic remains on track to begin operating in September, with most of the groundwork now complete.
The site fit-out is complete, with four treatment rooms furnished and ready to receive patients. Behind that physical readiness sits a larger staffing effort.
Emyria said it has recruited and trained around twenty Sydney-based therapists and four psychiatrists to form the clinical team that will run the new service. Two of those psychiatrists have gone further, securing Authorised Prescriber status from the Therapeutic Goods Administration, which allows them to prescribe treatments not otherwise approved for general use once the clinic opens its doors.
The company has also locked in the practical arrangements that keep a clinic functioning, striking a formal agreement with Matilda Nepean Private Hospital and securing pharmacy and medication supply partnerships. Even before opening, Emyria says it already has its first patients lined up, with a group approved for treatment through the workers' compensation pathway expected to begin care shortly after the clinic starts operating.
Emyria already runs clinics across Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia, and moving into New South Wales gives it a foothold in the country's largest population base, a market executives see as central to their growth ambitions.
The timing is also being framed against a broader shift in attitudes toward psychedelic-assisted therapies internationally. Emyria points to a string of recent developments overseas as evidence of growing institutional appetite for these treatments, including Eli Lilly's roughly $3.8 billion acquisition of AtaiBeckley.
Executive Chairman Greg Hutchinson said the company was pleased with how preparations had progressed. He pointed to the completed fit-out, the trained clinical team, the Authorised Prescribers now in place and the healthcare partnerships secured as signs that the operational foundations for launch were substantially established. He added that Sydney represented an important expansion of the company's footprint, giving patients across New South Wales a new pathway to specialist, evidence-based mental health treatment.
