AstraZeneca global search and evaluation leaders to brief Australia’s life sciences community

News

AusBiotech is pleased to share an opportunity for Australia’s life sciences community to hear directly from AstraZeneca’s global Search and Evaluation leaders.

The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), in collaboration with AstraZeneca, is hosting an interactive webinar on 9 December, 9–10 am, offering insights into AstraZeneca’s partnering approach, areas of strategic interest, and potential pathways for innovators seeking international growth.

Participants will hear from Nikhil Mutyal, PhD, Head of Search and Evaluation, Respiratory and Immunology and Christopher Church, PhD, MBA, Head of Technology Search and Evaluation, Strategy and BD&L. Further to hearing directly from these AstraZeneca leaders on current strategic priorities, participants will also be able to engage in a live Q&A with the BD&L team and then submit an Expression of Interest for potential one-to-one meetings at major 2026 partnering conferences, including Bio-Europe Spring (Lisbon) and BIO International (San Diego). EOIs will be assessed by AstraZeneca.

AstraZeneca Country President for Australia and New Zealand, Benjamin McDonald, said, “AstraZeneca’s pipeline of medicines reflects a deep, sustained investment in science—ensuring a steady flow of innovative therapies that can unlock the power of what science can do for people, society, and planet.”

“Australia’s life sciences community is rich in science and talent. Partnering with Austrade to open direct dialogue with AstraZeneca’s global Search and Evaluation leaders is about turning that strength into international impact for patients.

“This interactive session gives innovators a connection to AstraZeneca’s partnering approach, our strategic priorities, and pathways for innovators aiming for international growth.

“Collaboration is central to how we innovate. We are listening and together we can strive for better health outcomes across Australia and around the world.”

AusBiotech’s new Head of Global Trade and Partnerships, Tamlyn O’Connor, will also attend to support the sector and her Austrade colleagues. Tamlyn’s newly created role is part of the AusBiotech–Austrade TradeStart partnership, established to accelerate the global growth of Australian life science companies.
