Adelaide has been announced as host of the 2016 AusMedtech Conference, the leading medical technology meeting in Australia.

The State's Science and Information Economy Minister, Gail Gago, said a growing reputation in medical technology and South Australia’s track record as a conference hosting hub had facilitated the selection of Adelaide as host.

“This Conference will provide Adelaide the opportunity to showcase its world renowned research and commercialisation capabilities in areas such as reproductive health, wound care and health related communication technology,” Ms Gago said.

“Exporting the State’s research and medical technologies will underpin much of our future prosperity. Events like this will allow our companies and researchers to meet with key industry stakeholders and investigate funding and partnering opportunities.”

The two-day conference will bring together more than 300 key stakeholders of the Australian and International medical devices and diagnostics sector to engage and exchange ideas  on the latest developments in commercialising emerging technologies.

“Many of the companies operating in the medical technology space are based within the Thebarton Technology Precinct, together with the expansion of the North Terrace Health and Medical Precinct and the growth of Tonsely Park, South Australia is emerging as a technology leader,” Ms Gago said.

“This Conference will give our companies a chance to shine in front of their national and international counterparts.”

The AusMedTech 2016 Conference will be held in Autumn next year at the Adelaide Convention Centre. It was secured through the State Government’s event bid fund specifically aimed to draw visitors to our State.

“Adelaide now has a hub for business events second to none and can accommodate all manner of activities. Our vibrant food and dining culture also means delegates can do business and connect with industry by day and be entertained by night,” Ms Gago said.
