AusBiotech has appointed Hayley van der Meer as its new Director of Membership Services and Strategic Partnerships, a move the organisation describes as pivotal for both its future and the broader life sciences sector.
In her new role, van der Meer will be responsible for leading AusBiotech’s national membership and insights strategy, a program designed to strengthen member value, expand sector engagement, and build strategic partnerships across the life sciences ecosystem. She joins the organisation’s leadership team at a time when the sector is experiencing both rapid growth and significant transformation.
Van der Meer brings more than 25 years of experience in stakeholder engagement and business development across diverse areas of the life sciences, including diagnostics, medical technology, agriculture, animal health, and research. She has held leadership positions in both ASX-listed and privately held companies, specialising in strategic partnerships, investor relations, and corporate communications. Over her career, she has managed capital raisings and IPOs, delivered award-winning marketing initiatives, and developed growth strategies informed by complex industry trends, with her work spanning Australia, the United States, and global markets.
Her long association with AusBiotech also gives her unique insight into the role. Having worked with four organisations that are themselves AusBiotech members, Hayley understands firsthand the value of membership and the sector's needs. She is widely recognised for her collaborative and strategic approach to stakeholder management, building enduring relationships with investors, government agencies, strategic partners, and industry bodies.
Speaking on her appointment, van der Meer said joining AusBiotech represents an opportunity to contribute to an organisation she has long admired. “Joining AusBiotech is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an organisation that plays such a critical role in championing Australia’s life sciences,” she said. “Drawing on my experience in the sector over more than two decades, I’m committed to building strong, enduring partnerships that create value for our members and help accelerate the sector’s growth nationally and globally.”
AusBiotech CEO Rebekah Cassidy welcomed Hayley to the leadership team, describing her appointment as timely and vital for the organisation’s future. “Hayley’s depth of experience and strong track record in strategic partnerships and sector engagement will be invaluable as AusBiotech continues to grow our membership value and strengthen our broad connections across industry. We are excited to welcome her to the team at such an important time for the life sciences sector,” she said.
The appointment also marks the conclusion of Tanya Daw’s tenure as AusBiotech’s Director of Membership Engagement. Daw made what Cassidy described as an “outstanding contribution” over many years. “We are incredibly grateful to Tanya for her dedication to AusBiotech and our member community. She had a lasting impact on our organisation and community as Director of Membership Engagement. On behalf of the entire AusBiotech team, we extend our heartfelt thanks and best wishes for her next chapter,” Cassidy said.
Hayley’s arrival signals a renewed focus for AusBiotech on delivering high-impact membership services and forging stronger partnerships across the sector, as the organisation continues its role in championing and accelerating the growth of Australian life sciences.
