Following the launch of the Biomedical Translation Fund (BTF) on 3 August 2016 by the Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science, the Hon Greg Hunt MP and the Minister for Health and Aged Care, the Hon Sussan Ley MP, applications have now opened for fund managers and industry briefings announced.
The BTF is a $500 million co-investment venture capital initiative of the National Innovation and Science Agenda. The Government is providing $250 million to be at matched dollar-for-dollar by private capital to help translate biomedical discoveries into high growth potential companies to improve long term health benefits and national economic outcomes.
Applications have now opened for a six week period and will close on 14 September 2016.
The Department will be holding an industry briefing in Sydney on Friday 12 August 2016, 9:15am-12:00pm and in Melbourne on Monday, 15 August 2016, 9:15am-12:00pm. Attendance will be limited to potential applicants only (venture capital fund managers). Potential applicants can register their interest to attend by via the website www.business.gov.au/BTF.
